breast over the bottom lip,
tongue and lower jaw.
- How to position her breast and baby’s mouth to deeply attach/latch baby.By keeping her nipple above baby’s top
lip until the baby has begun taking the breast over the tongue and lower jaw.
- How a well placed finger (cradle hold) or thumb (transition hold) can be used to:
Tilt the nipple up above the top lip and position it opposite baby’s nose Offer baby the breast below the nipple first
and if needed help position the breast into baby’s mouth during attachment. The nipple is attached it will follow!
- How she needs to WAIT for baby to open the mouth wide, before bringing baby swiftly and firmly onto the breast.
